Lenox M8 was made only in 1915, designed by Dulin & Martin, Washington DC.
Each piece is hallmarked Lenox/Dulin & Martin, and hand numbered with the pattern (M8) and the piece number. President Woodrow Wilson’s wife, Edith Wilson, discovered this American-made china pattern in 1915, and then requested that the the company bid on White House state dinnerware, all previously and exclusively manufactured in France. The new, made-in-America White House China was then manufactured in 1917 when, in 1918, 1700 pieces of a new Presidential dinner service were delivered. The Lenox brand has been producing the official White House state dinner service for a list of presidential administrations ever since.
